Yesterday, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report on the physical science basis for climate change.
The summary of the report, released four days ago, and previously leaked drafts have given scientists plenty of time to criticise the IPCC and their ‘science.’
Professor Richard Lindzen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who was a lead author on the third IPCC report said, “I think that the latest IPCC report has truly sunk to (a) level of hilarious incoherence.”
He goes on to say that the IPCC “are proclaiming increased confidence in their models as the discrepancies between their models and observations increase.”
Dr Benny Peiser from the Global Warming Policy Foundation said the IPCC “ignore the fact that their models have a problem, and they are unable to say when the temperature will start rising again.” His personal interpretation is that the report contains more of a political message than a scientific one.
Some would say it’s more religious dogma than science.
A finding of the report that seems to have been glossed over is the fact that the earth has not warmed in the last 15 years. The IPCC attribute this to the ocean absorbing the heat.
Not surprisingly, many respected Climate Scientists worldwide are confused about the report’s claim of a 95 per cent certainty that global warming could be attributed to humans.
Professor Judith Curry from the Georgia Institute of Technology said, “How they can justify this is beyond me.”
Numerous top scientists are now calling for this to be the last report that the IPCC produces and for the panel to be disbanded.
Professor Lindzen said, “It is quite amazing to see the contortions the IPCC has to go through in order to keep the international climate agenda going.”
Climatologist Dr Roy Warren Spencer, who previously was a Senior Scientist for Climate Studies at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Centre, said that the report summary released last week, “reveals a dogged attempt to salvage the IPCC’s credibility amidst mounting evidence that it has gone overboard in its attempts to scare the global public over the last quarter (of a) century.”
On the back of the release of the Fifth IPCC report, it is now time for the global warming alarmists – in politics and in science – to finally admit that the science isn’t settled and for governments all over the world to stop wasting trillions of dollars on futile efforts to combat climate change.
After all, the climate has been changing for millions of years and it will keep doing so for millions more. And Hundreds of trillions of taxpayer dollars will never change that inconvenient truth.
